When a co-worker gets a promotion or praise at a staff meeting, what feelings arise? If it's anxiety or jealousy, you might suffer from a zero-sum bias, says Amanda Montell, author of the new book "The Age of Magical Overthinking." Zero-sum bias, or zero-sum thinking, refers to the mistaken belief that another person's gain is your loss. This, Montell says, can cause a strain in your relationships and feed negative thoughts regarding your worth. To curb sentiments of envy, Montell suggests befriending a person whose success you find aspirational.

NEW YORK (AP) — In just four songs on his latest EP, “Live For Me,” Omar Apollo processes death, grief, acceptance and the lack of it — big, traumatic emotions — through intimate, lush sounds. The EP, out Friday, follows Apollo’s 2022 debut album “Ivory” and a 2023 Grammy nomination for best new artist. APOLLO: A lot of the songs I write are emotions that I dealt with or am dealing with at that time. APOLLO: The only thing I can hope for is for (fans) to be inspired in whatever way they choose. Israel said it deported a Palestinian lawyer and activist to France early Sunday, claiming he has ties to a banned militant group, despite objections from the French government. Israel says Hammouri is an activist in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a group that it has labeled a terrorist organization. He has worked as a lawyer for Adameer, a rights group that assists Palestinian prisoners that Israel has banned for alleged ties to the PFLP. Israel said there’s no connection between the terror designation of Adameer and five other Palestinian rights groups and any alleged use of NSO spyware. Residency rights can be stripped if a Palestinian is found to live outside the city for an extended period or in certain security cases.
